My name is Angela Immanuel. I am a staff nurse by profession. I was suffering from severe lower back pain from 2002. The first incident of back pain occurred while lifting a patient. This pain slowly started moving towards the lower limb followed by numbness in the big toe of the right leg. On investigation it was found that in L4 and L5 there was a disc prolapse. I was treated with intermittent pelvic traction and Intra Ferential therapy which gave good relief from pain and was advised bed rest. This pain was repeating every 6 months and the same treatment followed. I was not able to lift weight and was not able to bend.
During December 2006 I had severe back pain and could not move out of my bed. Even a cough and a smile will invoke severe pain in the back. This pain traversed till both the lower limbs with numbness in the sole of the right foot. An MRI scan was done and continuous pelvic traction was administered. The impression of the MRI scan was:
1. Disc degenerative changes in L3-L4 to L4-S1 discs
2. Annular tear with posterior and eccentric disc extrusion & calcification of extruded disc material at L4-L5 level causing compression of cauda equina and exiting nerve roots on both sides more on right side. (The extruded disc material measures 14×14 mms)
3. Myelographic block is evident at L4-l5 level on MR myelogram
Annular tear with small posterior and central disc protrusion in L3-L4 and L5-S1 discs causing indentation on anterior thecal sac.
No other significant abnormality is seen in the lumbar spine and sacroiliac joints
How I reached the yoga center
I was advised for surgery and was admitted in a hospital in Palayam Kottai, Tamilnadu for the surgery. The date was fixed for the same as 4th Jan 2007. I also had bronchial asthma and hyper acidity. Without the surgery I could end up in a state where I can lose the control of my urinary bladder and even become bedridden for life as the numbness was spreading all over the lower limb.
At this point I came to know about Chandran’s Yoga therapy cure from my Uncle at Bangalore. As I am in the medical field I could not believe that any cure can be achieved through this. I was not in a position to travel such a long distance. All my family members wanted to try this cure and my Uncle wanted me to travel and advised me to gain the will power and bear the pain for one night. I traveled on 3rd of January and the yoga therapy started the next day. I could not sleep even for a minute during the whole night of travel in the train. The pain did not seem to reduce even a bit in spite of taking doses of pain killers. I boarded and checked out of the train with the help of wheel chair as I could not even keep my legs down, forget walking any distance.
How I got cured
After the first day of Yoga therapy I could walk from the gate of the house to the bedroom and could climb stairs. I could sit for about 5 hours on that day and did not feel any strain. I could stand for a while after 5 days. The pain started reducing day by day and I was relieved about 75% from the pain after 10 sessions. I was continuing with the therapy and could feel positive changes happening in me every single day. I could walk normally; the wheezing and acidity vanished. I could sleep well in all directions, have proper appetite and felt that my stress level is reducing. I had put on lot of weight during the past 4 years and now within 20 sessions I saw that I was losing weight. I could bend and touch below my knees after 12 days of yoga therapy which I was not able to do for the past 4 years.
I am continuing with the yoga therapy for full recovery and am advised to take a total of 30 sessions. This treatment gave me relief very quickly and saved me from undergoing a major and complicated surgery in the spinal cord.
