I was working as a security official in an IT Company at Indiranagar, Bangalore. About one year back I had an accidental fall in the office resulting in my neck hitting on the edge of a table. Immediately I fell unconscious. When I regained consciousness, my body was in a paralysed state. I could not move my legs or arms. The fingers and toes had got folded and I could not straighten them up. After the first-aid at my work place, I was rushed to the nearby ESI Hospital. The ESI Hospital, in turn, referred me to NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurological Sciences Hospital, Bangalore), suspecting it to be a stroke. The doctor at NIMHANS arrived at the spot after a few hours of my admission, and examined me. He said nothing to worry about. He also said that the present condition is due to fear only and that the situation will improve after 3 or 4 days. Saying this, the doctor advised my discharge from the hospital. I was discharged in the night at 1.00 a.m.

I was bed-ridden. My pain at neck, shoulders and arms only increased day-by-day. I was taken to a nearby clinic. The doctor in the clinic, after examination, opined that some nerves in the neck region might have got damaged. The doctor advised me to consult a good Neuro-Surgeon.

When the MRI scanning revealed damage to the nerves at the neck region, I was taken to Sai Baba Hospital, White Field, Bangalore, where treatment is given free to the under-privileged. After detailed examination, I was wait-listed for one month due to non-availability of Bed in the Hospital. My turn did not come even after one month. I waited for another month but was disappointed. My pain at the neck, shoulders and arms was drastically increasing. I could not sit or stand without someone’s assistance. My body conditions did not permit me to wait any more. My relations approached other hospitals for surgery but due to high charges and due to my adverse financial conditions, the surgery did not take place. This was the plight of an ESI member, who could not get the legitimate attention or treatment from Government Hospitals like ESI Hospital or NIMHANS. Finally, I was admitted to Vydehi Hospital, White Field, Bangalore for surgery on 28.6.2008. The Chief of the Hospital, after hearing my difficulties, magnanimously agreed to perform the surgery at 50% of the charges levied by other hospitals. After the surgery, I got discharged from the Hospital on 8.7.2008.

I had only marginal relief to my problems. My fingers and toes became straight but numbness persisted at the hands and feet. It became possible for me to walk small distances. But I had to wear the Collar for 24 hours a day. Without collar it was not possible for me to manage. I was taking 4 different tablets daily including pain killers (Sirdalud, Riclofen/Badofen, Neurogin, and Ecosprin), in spite of which the pain and discomfort persisted. The doctor at Vydehi Hospital told me that this much benefits (about 75% to 90%) could only be expected. He cautioned me against bending forward or squatting on the floor, or using Indian toilets. Now I realized that my life is ruined and I cannot even dream of going for work. I went to a nearby Yoga Centre to enquire whether Yoga can help me out of my present predicament. The Yoga Instructor regretted first, but without hesitation advised me to go to Sri Mookambika Yogacure Centre, Akashnagar, where serious diseases like that of mine are treated and cured. This is how I came to know about the Yoga Treatment Centre.

I visited Sri Mookambika Yogacure Centre on 22.12.08 for consultation. I understood that apart from the pains in the shoulders and arms, I suffered from swellings in the arms and legs. My hands and feet were shivering. I also suffered from gastric problems. After the consultation, the Yoga Therapists, Mr.M.A. Chandran and Mrs. Chandran promised me complete recovery over a period of 3 to 4 months and assured me that I can go for work fully fit after the treatment. I was advised to undergo 4 Courses (40 individual sessions).

My treatment started on 1.1.2009. I was unable to sit on the floor. So, I was made to sit on a chair with the collar on my neck for performing Yogic exercises. In the first day of treatment itself I felt good relief. The trend of improvement in me was such that no day has passed without my experiencing one or the other positive change in the body or mind. These positive results encouraged me to practise the given Yoga techniques more times a day. After one week, I was able to stay without collar for 15 to 20 minutes. The pains and the numbness in the body were also reducing. As days passed, I was able to sit on the floor and get up without assistance and also do away with the collar. I reduced the daily in-take of tablets as advised by the Yoga Therapists and stopped them altogether one month back.

My Yoga treatment is coming to an end today (8.4.09). Following are the noteworthy improvements:

1. I have become physically and mentally fit. I have stopped all medicines without ill-effects.
2. I have no pain on any part of the body. I get blissful sleep.
3. I am not using the collar any more. I can move my head to any direction at will.
4. I can bend forward and touch my feet while standing. So also bend backward and sideward.
5. I can practise Yoga standing, sitting, or lying down on the floor without any discomfort.
6. I lost my weight considerably; the gastric problems and the shivering of limbs stopped.
7. I am able to communicate with people in a better manner. The voice and its depth improved.
8. I found that people talk to me respectfully which they did not do earlier.
9. I developed very good will-power; my mind is very calm and peaceful.
10. I am confident, I will not become sick again but only improve my health further.

I am sure, my case is an eye-opener to many who continue to suffer from pains, strengthlessness, etc., despite undergoing surgeries, and taking handful of tablets daily, and thinking that there is no other alternative than remaining sick and continuing the treatment life long. Here is a result-oriented system of treatment which helps patients recover from their problems speedily and also helps them lead a normal healthy life without medicines. I am fully fit now and am eager to join duty in the Company as early as possible.

I and my family members thank Mr. Chandran and Mrs. Chandran for curing all my problems, and particularly opening up a spiritual path for me through Yoga.
